Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. There are 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK and numbers are set to rise to over 1 million by 2025.

We are looking for an experienced individual to join us as Head of Mass Participation Events, who will lead our award-winning mass participation events team, reporting directly to the Director of Fundraising. The Mass Participation Team works to grow, develop, innovate and manage mass participation fundraising events. We aim to provide the best possible supporter experience to increase signs ups and income, to ultimately support more people affected by dementia. The Head of Mass Participation Events will lead the team to deliver our ambitious target to raise over £10 million in 2020/21 towards the overall fundraising goal of £90m.

About the role

Alzheimer’s Society’s mass fundraising events continue to grow from strength to strength with Memory Walk and Cupcake Day featuring within the top 25 mass fundraising events in the sector in the UK. To continue and maximise on this growth we are looking for a strong experienced leader as the Head of Mass Participation Events to lead, inspire, develop and manage the mass events team responsible for 6 direct reports and a wider team of 24.

This role is responsible for the Alzheimer’s Society’s flagship fundraising event Memory Walk alongside Cupcake Day, Elf Day and New Product Development. You will lead on and oversee the strategic development of these exciting events to achieve our income and acquisition ambitions ensuring all events are delivered to the highest standard.

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising, this is a fantastic opportunity for you to be part of a truly exciting and growing Fundraising team and make your mark in this rapidly expanding national charity.

About you

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have a demonstrable and proven track record in leading and delivering large scale fundraising events. You will have experience of multichannel marketing campaigns over £1m, developed supporter journey experience and event management safety qualifications.

You will demonstrate high levels of integrity, leadership and emotional intelligence, have the ability to work effectively as part of a leadership team and have an evidenced excellent sense of judgment.
