Velindre University NHS Trust is an ambitious and progressive Trust based in South Wales. It is made up of two primary divisions that provide Blood Services and Tertiary Cancer Care.

The Velindre Cancer Centre division provides Tertiary Cancer Care to the population of South East Wales. The service is currently delivering a Transformation programme called “Transforming Cancer Services”. This large and complex programme plans to deliver a range of service changes supported by new infrastructure, and transformative equipment and digital services.

The Trust has received authority from Welsh Government to progress a procurement to replace its existing Radiotherapy Equipment ahead of its new estate. To support the procurement the Trust seeks and highly skilled expert who has experience of overseeing the implementation of Radiotherapy equipment.

The expert will provide Professional Advice and Assurance relating to all integrated Radiotherapy Solution clinical, scientific and technical matters and their relationship with the Commercial procurement and implementation aspects of the Integrated Radiotherapy Solution (IRS) procurement. This includes full compliance with all relevant professional and regulatory standards, and includes Radiation Protection aspects.

It requires the post holder to identify, liaise with and engage with clinical scientific experts both internally and externally to the Trust in order to provide independent assurance on the integrity and quality of the clinical scientific and technical aspects of the IRS procurement process

The IRS Project includes Radiotherapy delivery locations at a number of potential sites. This could include Velindre Cancer Centre, the proposed Radiotherapy Satellite Centre at Nevil Hall Hospital and the new Velindre Cancer Centre.

The post holder will also provide professional assurance relating to the transitioning of RT services to the new service model.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
