The post holder will have day to day lead responsibility to ensure that Social Security Scotland
has accommodation, facilities and transport arrangements aligned to a set of growing and
evolving business needs. The role has a duel focus to ensured that Social Security Scotland is
able to operate effectively in the short term but working toward implementing sustainable
longer term arrangements that support the Agency’s overall strategic aims.
The post holder must be adaptable and genuinely embrace an ethos of continuous
improvement to leading teams who will deliver a range of critical services. As a leader within
Social Security Scotland, the post holder will work closely with the wider Social Security
Directorate, including Policy and Programme teams, to meet our delivery commitments and

Specific Duties

  • A member of Corporate Services senior team with direct management responsibility for 4 C1


  • Overall leadership of a number of teams who will deliver strategic planning and operational

service delivery to allow Social Security Scotland to significantly expand its accommodation
and transportation arrangements.
Project Management

  • Introduce a standardised framework putting sound governance arrangements in place for all

projects supporting delivery of accommodation and transport needs of Social Security

  • Implement measures that allow continually monitoring and testing of the organisations needs

to ensure plans are continually reviewed and service provision is as ‘agile’ as practically
Budget Management

  • Develop a capital investment plan to inform strategic asset planning for both Accommodation

and Transport.

  • Ensure that effective financial controls are in place to ensure timely payment, monitor

spending and intervention to minimise contract variation and impact on budget.
