Do you have the management experience and the knowledge about maintenance structures that allows you to create, communicate and energise a reliable maintenance strategy? Then seize this opportunity to become our new Department Manager of Maintenance and join us in our ambition to expand our market-leading position.

About the Department

Insulin Manufacturing 1 (IM1) is the worlds’ largest insulin manufacturing facility and a large portion of the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient, that is the backbone in many of our Novo Nordisk products, is produced here. From fermentation and recovery to purification, IM1 Maintenance is responsible for the maintenance of equipment and production lines throughout the facility. Maintenance of the facility itself, including power, air and black utility, is also our responsibility, and we handle stakeholder concerns from many parts of the organisation.

Your department consists of four teams including associate managers, supporters, technicians and skilled workers. You will be part of the facility management group, where both day-to-day issues and strategic concerns are discussed and coordinated.

The position

In short, you will be responsible for all maintenance activities in IM1. As our new Department Manager of Maintenance in IM1, we will be relying on you to develop a maintenance strategy that readies us for the future while ensuring maximum production capacity – and carry the responsibility of implementing it throughout the facility.

Together with your teams and managers, you will develop and maintain preventive and conditional maintenance plans, maintenance and spare parts planning and control, and carry the general responsibility for upholding the important links between the strategic decisions regarding maintenance, compliance, operations. Equipment life cycle management also falls within your area.

Sometimes, you will be acting as a third line of support, so your knowledge about the equipment used in pharmaceutical production is critical – your colleagues will be counting on you for advice and direction. You will also get the opportunity to apply your experience in the systematic problem solving, we utilise to identify and isolate root causes of any deviation. The position is very hands-on, we expect you to be available at shop floor level much of the time. At the same time, we expect you to be able to create a strategic direction and energy – with results – around your ideas.

You have extensive managerial experience from at least a department manager or director level. To back this, you hold a scientific, engineering or technical degree with a focus on mechanics as a foundation to your solid experience with maintenance systems, strategies and issues. No matter your formal background, however, we expect you to have the technical knowledge and curiosity to allow you know about and suggest solutions to everyday issues.

Profound knowledge about maintenance systems like SAP is required for this position, and the more you know about and have worked with the infrastructure that supports maintenance in a regulated production environment, the quicker you will succeed in this position. This includes procurement processes and to some extent, handling the contact with external vendors.

As a person, you can energise and motivate your immediate surroundings, always founding your ideas and plans on solid facts and data. You thrive in adjusting quickly to changes in priorities, and you have the managerial experience to guide, direct and advice the associate managers that may be looking to you, if issues arise in their respective teams. We expect you to build trustful relations with ease, across geographical, professional and cultural distances.

In short, you are a great leader that people look to for solutions, not just because you know a whole lot about maintenance, but also because you inspire people around you to be the best version of themselves.
