Technical Co-Founder needed for purpose-driven company with huge potential to disrupt the commercial property market.
We’re in the early stages of building a platform to connect property developers, landlords and councils with economically sustainable occupiers for their space. We’re sick of seeing the same old tenants (think Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Costa) being pride of place in new property developments in our cities. We believe in the power of independent businesses and want to break open a market that is currently a closed shop.
We want to harness the power of data and machine learning to match independent businesses with space that suits them. For landlords, this is an opportunity to guarantee long-term stability in their occupiers. For the businesses themselves, it removes the volatility of deciding whether a space will work for them in the long-term.
We recently gave up our full-time jobs and are working part-time freelance on paid projects, and part-time on this new opportunity. The two current co-founders have backgrounds in real estate development, architecture and design, and strategy, business development and marketing. But we’re both pretty much generalists who are incredibly energised by the potential of the business.
About the Opportunity
We’re looking for a third person to join us as a co-founder and partner in the business. Inevitably, it will be all hands on deck as we get things moving, but the CTO role will be somewhat protected and given the space they need to focus on delivering the tech required to deliver on our shared vision.
The CTO / Co-Founder will need to be able to commit a minimum of 24 hours (3 days) per week until we raise seed funding. After that, we’ll go all-in and work together to grow the business to the point where we can raise serious funding.
What we’re looking for
Ideally, we’re looking for someone who’s worked in a mid-level or senior engineering role previously, either at a funded start-up with a live product or in an established business. As the only engineer in the founding team, you will need to have full-stack experience and should have a broad understanding of machine learning and how to model large sets of characteristic data in order to make accurate predictive matches.
We’re currently platform and development environment agnostics, and are looking for someone who can join us and guide us through the intricacies of setting up and building a tech product.
Chemistry is a big thing for us, so we’re looking for someone we can work with in the long-term and who shares our vision.
If you’ve made it this far and are still interested in exploring the idea of working with us further, then we want to hear from you.
In the first instance, please send us a copy of your CV, a brief covering note (of no more than 1 side of A4) which introduces the live piece of code you’re most proud of writing (so link us to an app or a website). Also tell us why you’re so proud of it.
We’ll be meeting for informal coffees with people starting immediately and hope to have someone on board by the end of October.
