About the Opportunity

We are currently looking for an individual who can lead the development of solutions and features based on the Avaya Oceana and Analytics platforms. The successful candidate will be passionate about solving challenging problems by building high-performing, scalable, enterprise-grade applications. You will be taking over the engineering leadership of the development of one or more key Contact Center software/solution deliveries that will involve overseeing the work of a matrixed, multi-locations, cross-functional agile team that builds the distributed backend systems that power our latest Web Based Multimedia Contact Center application.

As a member of our talented team you will be leading creative and ground-breaking product design and development. You will take part in architecting and developing mission-critical applications. Responsibilities include managing a cross functional team that is engaged in Java/Java EE application development while engaging with Product Management, customers and our services teams through the development lifecycle to ensure conformance to all applicable standards and requirements.
Work directly with product managers, sales teams and end customers, with responsibility for the discovery and documentation of business requirements
Research, experiment, prototype new software technologies and concepts to improve our solutions (e.g. Artificial Intelligence, IoT, BlockChain, Big Data / Analytics, Microservices architecture, DevSecOps, etc.)
Architect and design new software components, Microservices and software solutions
Provide engineering leadership and oversight in delivering new software applications iteratively as part of an agile/scrum cycle
Build and deliver compelling customer focused demonstrations
Identify and implement areas for continuous process improvement
About the Individual
You are an experienced engineering manager with a strong track record of project delivery. You have strong organisational and motivational skills with a strong eye for detail and planning. You have a solid understanding of product development and can smoothly move from infrastructure to front-end. You have excellent communication skills and you find it stimulating to work in a dynamic and agile organization. You have an ability to spot potential pitfalls in advance and work to address them. You are comfortable dealing with uncertainty and changing requirements and with proactively mitigating risk without compromising innovation and delivery effectiveness.
Proven, solid industry experience in a Software Development leadership role with a track record of successful software project delivery.
Demonstrated experience in software development lifecycle. Previous experience or willingness to learn and apply new DevSecOps concepts:
Continuous integration/delivery, source code control, utilization of automation and test frameworks
Excellent written and oral communication skills and are essential
Working in a fast paced geographically dispersed organization, ability to collaborate with remote teams is a must.
Excellent team work and motivational skills.
Desirable but no required experience in: Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), Native cloud development, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning techniques.
