The successful candidate will:

  • Be an experienced digital and agile professional, having been involved in delivering or managing Digital Services, coaching others in agile and lean tools and techniques, being one of the central points of expertise.
  • Have strong experience of communicating between the technical and non-technical, being able to manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate discussions across high risk and complexity or under constrained timescales.
  • Be passionate about collaboration and building high performing teams having experience of breaking down barriers for your team and driving cultural change to deliver improved performance
  • Have the ability to coach the organisation to inspect and adapt processes encouraging a mindset of experimentation with a view to optimise the delivery flow of teams

Responsibilities

A senior development manager is accountable for:

  • The performance of all internal software development teams
  • Ensuring the relevant metrics are in place to transparently track delivery and inform and measure improvements
  • Engaging with all stakeholders, particularly senior stakeholders, to manage expectations of delivery via the relevant Heads of Profession
  • Leading and managing high performing teams, ensuring they are motivated, collaborating and working well
  • Identifying obstacles and helping the team to overcome them as well as resolving obstacles and issues
  • Focusing the teams to prioritise on what’s important to the delivery of products and services
  • Encouraging and facilitating continuous improvement of the delivery teams
  • Coaching and mentoring development managers/scrum masters and others
  • Acting as an agile coach so that the most appropriate agile and lean tools and techniques are used
