Position: Assistant Financial Manager

Salary: Around £40,000 Per Year

Hours: 42.5 hours per week

Our client specialises in providing a comprehensive range of reactive and planned mechanical engineering services to a broad and diverse range of industry sectors including Aerospace, Automotive, Chemical and Pharmaceuticals, Construction, Energy and Utilities. Due to the expansion within the business, we have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Finance Manager to join our friendly team.

We are looking for an aspiring accountant to join us who can assist with analysing our branches daily financial activities in order to provide sound advice and guidance to upper management on future financial plans.

The Role:

•Monitoring day-to-day financial operations of the branches.
•Ensuring standardised accounting practices are being adhered within each subsidiary division, including future acquisitions.
•Ensuring the monthly timetable and close-down for the branches is fulfilled including journals and reconciliation of ledgers.
•Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for each branch.
•Assisting with the production of month end accounts for Group company submission, adhering to tight deadlines, and providing explanations of month on month movements and variation to budgets when requested.
•Track the company’s financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement.
•Assist with the preparation of annual budgets.
•Assist in the preparation of year end files for external auditors.
•Liaise with external auditors to ensure we are in line with up to date accounting standards.
•Assist with the co-ordination of the year end audit.
•Engaging with internal stakeholders, discussing company plans and agreeing on future paths to be taken.
•Cover and support others within the finance department.
•Assist with the finance departments development plan.  Provide training/recommendations on daily financial operations where required.
•Other Ad hoc tasks.

Requirements:

•Recent experience of undertaking a similar role.
•Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel required.

•Proficient user of SAGE finance software.
•Able to guide employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used.

•Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations.
•BS/MA degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics.
•Professional qualification such as ACCA/ACA/CIMA is considered a plus.
