The role of the SANGCOM team is to support the UK’s commitment to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by acquiring and maintaining modern communications capabilities for the Saudi Arabian National Guard. The team has a requirement to recruit experienced and agile Project Managers to assist in the management of the Prime Contractor to deliver the requirements of the National Guard.

The post holder will need to demonstrate the appropriate skills that support the aim to deliver a 10 year, £1.8Bn equipment, service management and civil construction programme, and provides military and technical advice to the Saudi Arabian National Guard (SANG) Signal Corps.

It is essential that applicants have strong team skills as you are likely to work in an extremely multi-cultural office environment. Because of this the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with individuals from all ethnicities and cultural backgrounds is key. You will need a good level of self-confidence, be well motivated and able to work with minimum supervision. You should have relevant MOD experience in Project Management from a range of roles throughout your career with demonstrable evidence of sound stakeholder management.

Key responsibilities include:

The UK MOD SANGCOM Project Team is responsible for the delivery of a £2bn programme to modernise the Saudi Arabian National Guard’s communications network. The post holder duties cover all aspects of the CADMID/T Project Management cycle for modern Communication Projects. These will include:

  • Leading and directing the delivery stages for projects on behalf the National Guard, including critical evaluation and maintenance of internal project plans, ensuring identified key activities are completed and the resources required are available (from both the customer and the supplier).

  • Draft initial and main gate equivalent business cases, with responsibility for conducting and directing appropriate stakeholder reviews of proposals received from suppliers.

  • Lead on project reporting, ensuring change requests are staffed and agreed as well as providing regular progress updates to the project reporting system, briefing stakeholders, including preparation of any presentation material to the National Guard, as required.

  • Liaise with the National Guard to ensure their obligation under Government Furnished Assets (GFA) and any commitments are agreed to, are made available as required by the supplier.

It is essential that the successful applicant is a strong team player and possess a good level of self-confidence in an unfamiliar environment. You should be well motivated and able to work with minimal supervision whilst gaining the best from the suppliers as at times you will be required to undertake duties in isolation.

IT Service Management (ITIL), Practitioner-level project or programme management qualifications and experience are desirable, as is knowledge and a background in Information Communications Systems and/or IP Network delivery. This is an excellent opportunity to develop skills across a broad range of Information Technology competences in a challenging environment.

Essential Criteria

Experience of delivering projects using the project management approaches, tools and techniques that are described in the APM Body of Knowledge 6th Edition or the PMI Project Management Body of Knowledge 6th Edition.

Excellent communication skills

Proven ability to define, tailor, source and analyse high quality management information

Able to establish credibility required to work collaboratively across project team and contract boundaries.

ITIL Service Management experience and knowledge desirable

Experience of Information Communications Systems, delivery of IP Networks and/or Service Management are desirable

Professional membership of an appropriate P3M and/or IT related technical body (e.g. Association for Project Management) is desirable.


Full UK Driving Licence.


APM P/MSP or equivalent P3M qualification essential

Hold foundation-level certificates in project or programme management
